The 2024 Hospitality Gala

The Idea Stage
We spent 4 months brain stormng, problem solving, and creating a vision fo the gala. We worked in small groups of 4-5 that were part of 3 bigger groups. Auction, Marketing, and Operations. I was part of the operations team. We pitched multiple presentations for the gala color scheme, the linen choices, and the floral and design choices. We did personal outreach to companies to acquire auction packages, and we pitched our final auction packages when they were completed.

The Design Stage
We were hands on throughout the whole process of selecting design elements for the gala. As a group we laid out the linen choices and spent time debating which ones we liked most and switching the napkins and tablecloths out to see what patterns or colors looked best together. We chose the florals we wanted in meetings with our florist and met in person everyday the week leading up to the gala to create the centerpieces, and show stopping floral design elements we had come up with.

The Execution
The week and night of the gala were packed with things to do, and excitement to see it all come together. We worked hard in florals to ensure our vision would come to life, and we spent hours the day of setting the centerpieces out, creating the florals for the auction tables, and creating our surprise floral arch that would be the hit of the night. We worked with the servers to ensure they knew what order the foo would go out, and made sure the wine was in order for each course.
The Idea Stage.
Brainstorming, coming up with ideas and presenting them was my favorite part. I loved coming up with ideas and color schemes and organizing it all into one inspiring presentation that would hopefully stand out and be chosen to work with.

The Design Stage.
Seeing all of our tangible design choices in front of us was inspiring because we were able to move around and choose what looked best in person, rather than having the options on a screen. This stage was hardest due to the fact that everyone has their own opinions, but I stepped up to take charge and helped walk everyone through the ideas, until we decided on our final choices.
This stage taught me the most about teamwork and how to step up and work when theres feelings involved.
The Execution.
The night of was electric as we watched our guests walk into an event that was entirely our own. Watching the smiling faces and hearing the “ooh’s and aah’s” as they walked through our creation and complimented our choices.
Seeing the Completed gala was nothing short of rewarding and I loved every minute of it.
