Ariccia Cucina Italiana

A traditional Italian gem located in the heart of Auburn.

I was hired to work as a server in Ariccia at the Auburn Hotel and Conference Center in February 2022. I really wanted this job because I knew it would be a great job to have for school, especially being in the hospitality management program at Auburn. The Auburn Hotel works hands on everyday with the hospitality management program. With the new building and the new Laurel hotel, they work with us now more than ever.

In this position, I am able to make lasting connections each day. Not only with my fellow servers or restaurant staff, but also with the executive team of Ithaka Hospitality, and most importantly with our customers. Working in the restaurant allows me to meet so many different people each night or day, and with that comes networking. Being a student at Auburn, and more importantly, a hospitality student, a lot of my guests are very curious to learn more about me. I am able to give them more information about the hospitality school, and/or Auburn, and potentially network.

In this position, I am also given ample opportunities to work events or large dinners. This is beneficial to me seeing as I’m an event management major, so being able to see our events and banquets team put on events is great experience.

Ithaka Hospitality

Both The Laurel and The Hotel at Auburn University, are run by Ithaka Hospitality, and being a part of that company comes with a lot of responsibility, but it also gives you ample amounts of opportunities to improve your skills, and learn more about the service and hotel industry. Not only can you gain hands on experience working for Ithaka, you also learn the meaning of true hospitality and what it means to be the best of the best.

Ithaka Hospitality is focused on bringing guests the best and most unique experiences, whether it be just for the night in our restaurants, or over the course of their stay with us in house. To achieve this goal, Ithaka has created a set of standards that they convey to their staff at the time of hiring. Below, are some examples of what Ithaka Expects from their staff each and everyday.
